If you didn’t know Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies which aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users. The term became popular following the first O’Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004. Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to any technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the web. The sites are listed in a rough order of usefulness. Everyone’s experience will differ, depending on industry, audience and product or service. Some of the sites lower down on my list are my favorites, but I know that they’re not going to send anyone to the America’s Richest lists any time soon.

del.icio.us is a social bookmarking website — the primary use of del.icio.us is to store your bookmarks online, which allows you to access the same bookmarks from any computer and add bookmarks from anywhere, too.
3. Reddit
Reddit is a source for what’s new and popular on the web — personalized for you. Your votes train a filter, so let reddit know what you liked and disliked, because you’ll begin to be recommended links filtered to your tastes. All of the content on reddit is submitted and voted on by users like you.
4. Twitter
Twitter is a real-time information network powered by people all around the world that lets you share and discover what’s happening now.

5. Yahoo Buzz
Yahoo Buzz works very similar to Digg. First, they determine the most popular topics that people are searching for on Yahoo!. Then, they showcase the most popular stories within those topics, based on activities like voting, commenting, and emailing stories to friends. And then stories with most Buzz may be published on the Yahoo! home page — you can impact what millions will see on Yahoo!.
6. Technorati
Technorati is the recognized authority on what’s going on in the world of weblogs. We help people search for, surface, and organize bloggers and their daily posts… Technorati. Who’s saying what. Right now.
7. Squidoo

The Netscape portal has evolved from a portal that is programmed by us to a portal that is programmed by you–the audience! All of the stories on Netscape are submitted and voted on by users.
